Before anyone may schedule an examination date, the department must verify that individual applicants qualify for a license. Qualified applicants are notified by mail when verification is complete, and then are directed to the department's web site to schedule an exam. Only applicants qualified by the department to take an examination will be allowed to schedule an examination.
Qualified license applicants must schedule or reschedule their examination date online by visiting the online exam registration page. (Individuals failing an exam must apply to retest and qualify for another examination date.)
Qualified license applicants may reschedule an examination once by visiting the online exam registration page. Failure to take the examination after rescheduling the date will result in the application being denied. Once an application is denied, the applicant must submit a new application and fees to qualify for the license and examination.
The department maintains a regular examination schedule at its offices in St. Paul and at other sites in greater Minnesota. You determine the location, date and time of your exam when scheduling your exam.
Send questions to dli.exam@state.mn.us. Please identify the license exam you are inquiring about and include your contact information and application number, if known.
The Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADA) and the Minnesota Human Rights Act (MHRA) require the Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) to provide qualified individuals with a reasonable accommodation and modification due to disability to apply for a license, take a test and access a facility. An accommodation must be requested, be necessary and not create an undue burden.
