Proposed Minnesota Amendments to the 2018 International Residential Code (IRC)

The 2020 Spring Seminar is canceled. 

  • Registrants will receive a refund for the $85 registration fee. Refunds will be applied to the credit card used to register for the seminar and may take four to six weeks to process. 

  • We are researching alternative methods to share information about the proposed Minnesota amendments to the 2018 International Residential Code.


This seminar will focus on Minnesota Rules Chapter 1309 and amendments to the 2018 International Residential Code (IRC). It is offered at 10 locations throughout Minnesota from April 3-30, 2020.

Discussion will include background information and outcomes during the code adoption process. This course will help prepare those in the industry for the code adoption effective March 31, 2020. The presenters for this seminar are Rich Lockrem and Paul Swett with DLI's Construction Codes and Licensing Division.

Continuing education credit

This course includes seven hours of continuing education for: 

  • building officials,

  • residential contractors,

  • residential remodelers, and

  • manufactured home installers.

Cost:  $85 per person

When and where: 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. (registration begins at 7:30 a.m.).

  • 7:30 to 8 a.m. – Sign-in/register

  • 8 to 9:30 a.m. – Minnesota amendments to the 2018 IRC

  • 9:30 to 9:45 a.m. – Break

  • 9:45 a.m. to noon – Minnesota amendments to the 2018 IRC

  • noon to 1 p.m. – Lunch

  • 1 to 2:15 p.m. – Minnesota amendments to the 2018 IRC

  • 2:15 to 2:30 p.m. – Break

  • 2:30 to 4:15 pm – Minnesota amendments to the 2018 IRC
