Monday, Nov. 13, 2023

10 to 11 a.m. – Registered Apprenticeship in the Utilities Industry (webinar)

A virtual panel discussion about registered apprenticeships in the utility industry for educators, school counselors and those interested in learning more about careers in this sector. The panel will feature registered apprenticeship experts from the industry. Topics include: an overview of registered apprenticeships and career pathways in the utility industry and ways to prepare and connect students and young adults to these opportunities. 

10 to 11:30 a.m. – Youth Apprenticeship in Minnesota

Join the Minnesota Department of Education to learn about youth apprenticeship in Minnesota. During this in-person event, participants will hear from Mark Lee, youth apprenticeship coordinator at Wright Technical Center, share about the youth apprenticeship program at Die Technology, Inc. Following the presentation, participants can tour Die Technology. Registration for the tour is limited to 30 participants. Noon to 1 p.m. – Registered Apprenticeship for Semiconductor Manufacturers (webinar)

A virtual panel discussion about registered apprenticeships for semiconductor manufacturers. The panel will include speakers from current registered apprenticeship programs and a representative from the National Institute for Innovation and Technology. 

 


Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023

9 to 10 a.m. – Registered Apprenticeship in K-12 Education (webinar) 

Minnesota is building its first registered teacher apprenticeship program, which allows individuals to earn while they learn and work alongside an experienced teacher as they earn their teaching license. Learn more about this program during our National Apprenticeship Week webinar.

10 to 11 a.m. – Registered Apprenticeship 101, (webinar) 

Are you interested in starting a registered apprenticeship program? Join us to learn about registered apprenticeship and the benefits of growing and sustaining an innovative workforce. As a strategy to meet your need for skilled workers while increasing engagement and retention, registered apprenticeship offers a time-tested employee training system that can be customized to meet the needs of any business.

10 a.m. to noon – Child Care Aware of Minnesota Registered Apprenticeship Open House (no registration required)

Join Child Care Aware of Minnesota at an open house event celebrating their newly launched early childhood educator apprenticeship program. Event location: Minneapolis Community and Technical College

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Registered Apprenticeship in the Health Care Industry (webinar) 

A virtual panel discussion about registered apprenticeships in the health care industry. The panel will feature registered apprenticeship sponsors with health care programs. Topics include an overview of registered apprenticeships in general, the benefits for employers and employees and the steps needed to set up a program.

1:30 to 3 p.m. – CareerForce Apprenticeship Outreach Office Open House and Panel Presentation (no registration required)

Join the Minneapolis Employment and Training/Minneapolis Workforce Development Board, Minnesota Department of Economic Development and the  Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry for an Apprenticeship Update and Panel Presentation at CareerForce in North Minneapolis. Officials will also unveil a new Office of Apprenticeship Outreach. Beginning in 2024, this first-in-state office will combine the expertise of partner agencies and locally funded workforce programs to educate and connect the community to registered apprenticeship opportunities. Event location: 800 West Broadway, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55411, second floor meeting space.

4 to 6:30 p.m. – Women Building Success Trades Games Challenge 

Women Building Success is hosting a Trades Games Challenge. The event includes fun, trades-based challenges, a variety of prizes including cash-prize drawings and a free taco bar. Anyone age 18 and over is welcome. Women are eligible to win Trade Games Challenge prizes. Event location: Pipefitters 455 Apprenticeship Training Center, 1301 L’Orient Street, St. Paul, Minnesota

 


Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Construct Tomorrow 

Construct Tomorrow brings awareness to high school students about post-secondary career opportunities in the construction and building trades industries through experiential, hands-on learning activities that feature the construction trades. Students who attend a Construct Tomorrow event receive practical, one-on-one advice from experienced trades professionals, and from current apprentices – young men and women not much older than the students themselves – who are thriving in apprenticeship programs. Event location: Mankato Civic Center, Mayo Health Systems Event Center, 1 Civic Center Plaza Mankato, MN 56001.

10 to 11 a.m. – Registered Apprenticeship for People with Disabilities (webinar) 

Learn foundational information about disability and employment; hear about Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development programs that serve persons with disabilities and the businesses that hire them; and discuss ways more people with disabilities can be introduced to and supported in apprenticeship.

1 to 3 p.m. – Work Wednesday (no registration required)

1:30 to 3 p.m. – Speed Networking for Community Organizations and Apprenticeship Programs 

Apprenticeship Minnesota is hosting a Speed Networking Event to connect apprenticeship programs with community organizations and educators to build potential working partnerships. This event is hosted in collaboration with the St. Paul Pipefitters Local 455 JATC. Staff from the St. Paul Pipefitters will provide a tour of their training facilities for those interested after the speed networking event. 1 to 2 p.m. – Registered Apprenticeship in New and Emerging Industries (webinar)

A virtual panel discussion about registered apprenticeships in new and emerging industries for educators, school counselors and those interested in learning more about careers in other sectors. The panel will feature registered apprenticeship experts from a wide range of industries, including advanced manufacturing, agriculture, and transportation. Topics include: an overview of registered apprenticeships and career pathways and ways to prepare and connect students and young adults to these opportunities.
 


Friday, Nov. 17, 2023

9 to 10 a.m. – Registered Apprenticeship in the Building and Construction Trades (webinar)

A virtual panel discussion about registered apprenticeships in the construction and building trades industry for educators, school counselors and those interested in learning more about careers in this sector. The panel will feature registered apprenticeship experts from the industry. Topics include: an overview of registered apprenticeships and career pathways in the construction and building trades industry, and ways to prepare and connect students and young adults to these opportunities.

1 to 2 p.m. – GI Bill for Registered Apprenticeship (webinar)
This session will include an overview of GI Bill benefits for apprentices and employers and will include a panel discussion of apprentices and employers who have benefitted from the GI Bill.
