When a worker dies as a result of a work injury or occupational disease, the dependents of the employee may be entitled to workers compensation benefits, including unpaid permanent partial disability (PPD) and dependency benefits. The amount and duration of the dependency benefit is based on the employee’s weekly wage at the time of injury, with adjustments, and the number and type of dependents existing at the time of death.
